Mt Airy is involved with a variety of local and global missions, including:
Chaplaincy programs at Hunterdon Medical Center and Doylestown Hospital, Christ's Home for Children, Habitat for Humanity, Heifer International, the Lambertville food pantry, West Amwell auxiliary and more. We also support specific missionary work in Zimbabwe and Kazakhstan.
We also view each of the below, ongoing committees as fulfilling a ministry. You are invited to become a part of one or more. Just contact the Moderator for more information.
Buildings & Grounds [Patrick Kendig, Moderator]
Statement from the Moderator: B&G plans projects and performs tasks for the beautification, improvement and maintenance of the church building, Mathews House, our manse and the cemetery.
Recent/Current projects: (2014/5) The restoration of the church steeple, just completed, has been the largest recent project. We have also accomplished a lot of work in and around the manse.
Christian Education [Cindy Williamson, Moderator]
As its name implies, this ministry coordinates teachers and curricula for our various Christian Education classes (aka "Sunday School"). Education is important for our development as individual disciples of Jesus Christ, and therefore for the body of the church as a whole. Exciting new ideas for Christian Ed - still rooted in traditional classrooom learning - are moving us toward community interaction. Do you have gifts or interests in these areas? We'd love to have you join us!
Current & future activity/projects: Adults have studied Spiritual Disciplines during Lent and Eastertide, and members have stepped up to lead a Sunday or two - great job! We will end the Christian Ed academic year in June, and look forward to the fall as we tie our Christian Ed gatherings to our fall mission, The Church Has Left the Building. This year's theme will be "Living Outside the Box."
Friendship & Service [Sue Stokes, Moderator]
This ministry plans both church and public events, such as: pot-luck dinners, movie nights, flea markets/bake sales, and projects with Fisherman's Mark in Lambertville, Good News Home for Women, and Adopt-a-Soldier. Do you have gifts or interests in these areas? Sit it on a meeting and see if this ministry might be a place for you!
Stewardship & Missions [Donna Baumgartner, Moderator]
Statement from the Moderator:
Current & future projects:
Worship & Music [Pat Masterson, Moderator]
Key Scripture: Sing to the Lord all the world Worship the Lord with Joy; Come before Him with happy songs (Psalm 100:1-2)
Statement from the Moderator: The Worship and Music committee meets monthly to consider our weekly worship service, what we would like to include in our services and what we feel might need to change. We strive to include ideas that will make worship more meaningful for the congregation, and to have the congregation take more of an active part in worship. We plan special/seasonal worship services, hymn-sings and concerts; arrange for greeters, readers, and elders to serve Communion monthly; as well as arranging for child care, flowers, and banners in the sanctuary.
We are a busy committee! You are most welcome to join us. We would love your imput. The committee meets after worship on the fourth Sunday, and as needed.
As the Moderator (Chairperson) of Worship & Music, I am happy to be able to serve God's church at Mt Airy in worship and in music. I love to work with the choir and bring God's message in song.
